Hi, I'm Tom Fearon aka greenkeeper-in-chief of Banyan
Around a decade ago, I moved to China to take a “Great Leap Forward” as a communications professional. I began as an editor in state media, where I informed the masses at China’s flagship broadcaster CCTV News and the country’s saber-rattling daily Global Times. As chief cadre of news curation, I waged my own “Four Pests Campaign” against Chinglish, poor punctuation, terse headlines, and “alternative facts” (before that became a buzzword). After five years of plying my comms creativity in communism, social media skills in socialism, and marketing mastery in Marxism, I joined a new “revolution” by enrolling as a master's student at Deakin University. Banyan is my space to cultivate knowledge and ideas about ALC708: Blogging and Online Communication Techniques, which marks the final unit of my postgrad studies. Following its completion, I'll be returning to Australia for a new challenge based in Canberra. You can learn more about my professional background at my personal website or get another glimpse of my online identity at my About.Me page. |
